About San Francisco Gem and Mineral Society
Founded in 1935, a 501(c)3 non-profit educational organization dedicated to the study and enjoyment of geology, mineralogy, gems and gemology, rocks and minerals, and lapidary and associated creative arts. SFGMS has maintained a clubhouse in the Outer Sunset since 1957, featuring a substantial library, a publicly-accessible museum of mineral specimens/fossils/semi-precious gems, and workshops offering informal lapidary, jewelry-making, and metalsmithing instruction seven days a week. The general public is always invited to attend meetings free of charge.
