About Shadow Mountain Gem & Mineral Society
Shadow Mountain Gem & Mineral Society is a nonprofit dedicated to sponsoring activities that build knowledge of the earth sciences. Established in 1951 and originally based in Palm Desert, the club is active in the Coachella Valley area with regular meetings and community engagement, including creating educational rock-sample bags for children at the Palm Springs-area Date Festival. The club leads field trips most months and mails its bulletin, The Desert Hobbyist, to all members.
