About Amador County Gem & Mineral Society
A volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1964 to study mineralogy and geology, collect minerals, practice the lapidary arts, and promote appreciation of the earth sciences. The club operates a clubhouse with a lapidary workshop and jewelry-crafting room located behind the former Sutter Creek Grammar School off Broad Street. Members can use the lapidary shop for a small fee that covers electricity and maintenance. The society holds Program and Board Meetings on the third Friday of February, April, June, August, October and December, with potluck socials in August and December; there are no regular meetings the other months. Visitors are always welcome at meetings. Membership includes newsletters, class invitations, and field trip notifications. Annual dues are $15 for an individual or $25 for a family.
