About Austin Gem & Mineral Society
Austin Gem & Mineral Society (AGMS) is a nonprofit founded in 1950 under the motto "Each One, Teach One," dedicated to geology and lapidary arts for all ages. The society runs Special Interest Groups covering Mineral, Lapidary, Paleontology, Silversmithing, Jewelry, and Faceting, and operates a workshop with cabbing and faceting equipment, slab saws, and a resource library. Classes cover cabbing, faceting, silversmithing, and wire wrapping. Members-only field trips are offered throughout the year. AGMS hosts its Gem Capers show annually and shares its clubhouse with the Paleontological Society of Austin. The club is active on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube and welcomes beginners.
