About Memphis Archaeological and Geological Society

The Memphis Archaeological and Geological Society (MAGS), founded in 1998, is dedicated to geology, mineralogy, and archaeology in the Memphis area, with a strong emphasis on fossils and rocks of Tennessee and the Southeast. MAGS publishes a monthly newsletter, MAGS Rockhound News, and runs a blog called the MAGS Field Guide. Adult and youth visitors are always welcome at meetings, though field trips are restricted to MAGS or Dixie Mineral Council members. The club's flagship public event is "The Earth Wide Open" Memphis Mineral, Fossil and Jewelry Show.
