About Knoxville Gem and Mineral Society
The Knoxville Gem and Mineral Society is a nonprofit, educational and scientific interest group for people who study, collect, and share rocks, minerals, and fossils, describing itself as family-oriented and open to everyone, with children and youth "especially welcome." The club meets monthly at its clubhouse and holds seasonal social events — picnics in May and September and a banquet in December — plus collecting field trips. Its flagship public event is an annual Gem, Mineral and Jewelry Show each October at the Rothchild Conference Center, with proceeds supporting the club's educational initiatives.
