About Rochester Lapidary Society

The Rochester Lapidary Society is a non-profit organization, whose founder was mineral collector William Pinch, devoted to the collecting and study of minerals, gemstones, geology, paleontology, and the lapidary arts (stone cutting, carving, polishing, faceting, and jewelry making) along with appreciation of the outdoors. Monthly meetings run September through June, and summer months are devoted to club-sponsored field trips. Lapidary workshops are held in the wood workshop of the Rochester School for the Deaf; guests may observe but only members can operate the equipment, since access requires paid membership for insurance coverage. The society publishes a newsletter called The RockCollector and holds an annual show each October. It is a member of the EFMLS.
