About Capital District Mineral Club

Founded in 1956, the Capital District Mineral Club promotes the collecting of rocks and minerals while fostering cooperation among collectors and mineralogists of all levels. The club encourages the study of minerals, geology, and related sciences through monthly meetings, field trips, and other activities. Members get admittance to monthly meetings at the New York State Museum, access to the club's Herkimer Diamond claim in Fonda, NY, and use of the club library. The club also provides a scholarship to a Capital District area student pursuing a degree in geology or a related field. It is a member of the Eastern Federation of Mineralogical and Lapidary Societies (EFMLS).
