About Buffalo Geological Society Inc

The Buffalo Geological Society was founded in 1938 to engage in and encourage the study of the Geological Sciences, the Lapidary Arts, and the collection of fossils, minerals, and rocks. Based at the Heritage Discovery Center in Buffalo, NY, the society is an affiliate of the Buffalo Society of Natural Sciences and a member of the Eastern Federation of Mineralogical and Lapidary Societies (EFMLS) and American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS). Meetings feature guest lectures by field experts, mineral and fossil identification and show-and-tell, door prizes, and refreshments. The club organizes field trips to quarries, museums, and collecting sites, including annual multi-day trips to North Country NY and out-of-state locations, plus a joint dig event at Penn Dixie Fossil Park. There is no admission fee for meetings and guests are welcome.
