About Orange County Mineral Society Inc
Established in 1953, the Orange County Mineral Society is a not-for-profit organization whose goal is to promote interest and education in geology, mineralogy, paleontology, archaeology, and lapidary. The club's main focus is Orange County, NY and surrounding areas, sharing knowledge about local mines and mineralogy, while also collecting minerals and fossils throughout New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. Meetings are held monthly at the Chester Senior Center. The club is a member of the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS) and the Eastern Federation of Mineralogical and Lapidary Societies (EFMLS), and runs an annual gem, mineral, fossil, and jewelry show.
