About Gem & Mineral Society of Syracuse Inc
GMSS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit formed in 1951 to stimulate community interest in mineralogy, paleontology, and the lapidary arts in Central New York. The club maintains its own clubhouse in Liverpool, NY, which houses the Marie Cole Skill Center offering beginner and advanced lapidary classes plus open lab hours for members who complete the beginner course. GMSS runs a Junior Rockhounds club for kids and hosts field trips and educational workshops. The club is a member of the EFMLS and puts on GemWorld, billed as New York State's largest gem, mineral, fossil and jewelry show, each July at the NYS Fairgrounds.
