About Friends of Mineralogy - New Jersey Chapter
Friends of Mineralogy - New Jersey Chapter (FM-NJ) is the state chapter of the national Friends of Mineralogy organization, formed in Tucson, Arizona in 1970, which has roughly 650 members nationally across six regional chapters. FM-NJ's mission is to promote, support, protect, and expand mineral specimen collecting while furthering recognition of minerals' scientific, economic, and aesthetic value. The chapter meets monthly at the Monmouth Worship Center in Marlboro, New Jersey and runs a Junior Rockhounds program for young collectors. It organizes several field trips a year to surrounding states (membership required to participate) and welcomes newcomers "from newbie to professional geologist."
