About Hellgate Mineral Society
The Hellgate Mineral Society is a social and educational organization founded in 1959 out of Missoula, Montana, for those interested in rocks, gems, minerals, and fossils. The society offers lapidary opportunities including faceting, cabbing, silversmithing, and jewelry making, along with a youth activities program, field trips, and silent auctions at meetings. Membership includes affiliation with the Montana Council of Rocks and Minerals, the Northwest Federation of Mineralogical Societies (NFMS), and the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS). In 2026 the club is hosting the NFMS Annual Convention alongside its own 31st annual gem show.
