About Central Montana Prospectors
Central Montana Prospectors (the Great Falls chapter of the Gold Prospectors Association of America) searches for treasure "under the big sky" through gold panning, metal detecting, rockhounding, gem prospecting for sapphires/garnets/rubies on state land, and fossil hunting. Described as a family-friendly outdoor activity suitable for all ages and abilities, the group actively teaches newcomers detecting and prospecting strategies. As of 2026 the chapter has 16 members on the GPAA chapter directory, led by a president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary.
