About Bitterroot Gem & Mineral Society

The Bitterroot Gem and Mineral Society is a nonprofit organization serving Ravalli County, founded in 1983, that promotes interest and education in earth sciences including geology, mineralogy, paleontology, and the lapidary and faceting arts. The society follows a Code of Ethics along with Northwest Federation of Mineralogical Societies and American Federation of Mineralogical Societies policies, and supports amateur collecting and recreational rockhounding on public and private lands. It holds monthly meetings, publishes a newsletter, and organizes field trips, workshops, and presentations. The group is open to anyone interested in earth sciences.
