About Mt. Clemens Gem & Lapidary Society

Mt. Clemens Gem & Lapidary Society (MCGLS), founded in 1969, is a club whose members share a passion for hunting, discovering, preserving, and polishing rocks, gems, minerals, and fossils, along with beading and related crafts. The society meets monthly at the Mt. Clemens Public Library and has historically hosted an annual Gem and Mineral Show with a schoolchildren's day, wire-wrapping classes, and fossil field trips. As of mid-2024 the club sold most of its lapidary equipment and discontinued cabochon and faceting classes, though it continues to welcome new members and volunteers.
