About Mikenauk Rock & Gem
Mikenauk Rock and Gem Club is a Roscommon, Michigan club whose members share an interest in faceting and other areas of lapidary arts, jewelry making, and mineral collecting, and in sharing the hobby with others. The club takes several field trips each year, and members receive expert instruction in the use of lapidary equipment, rock and mineral identification, and other related programs. People of all ages are welcome, and the club is affiliated with the Midwest Federation of Rock and Gem Clubs and the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies. The club's name references Mikenauk County, the original 1840 name (from the Ojibwe word for turtle) of what became Roscommon County in 1843.
