About Livingston Gem & Mineral Society

Livingston Gem & Mineral Society (LGMS), founded in 1970, is a nonprofit organization based in Howell, Michigan that promotes public interest and knowledge in mineralogy, archaeology, paleontology, and lapidary arts, and is a member of the Midwest Federation of Mineralogical Societies. LGMS members have access to a fully equipped workshop for gem polishing, silversmithing, wire work, and mineral exploration, plus a jewelry-making studio with soldering stations, rolling mills, stone-setting tools, and casting equipment. The society hosts its annual Rockhound's Dream Show and offers training from senior members for those new to the hobby, with gemstone and fossil identification as a club specialty.
