About Grand Traverse Area Rock and Mineral Club

Grand Traverse Area Rock and Mineral Club (GTARMC) is a Traverse City-based club, organized in 1970, that joined the Midwest Federation of Mineralogical and Geological Societies in 1972. Its mission is to encourage interest in rock and mineral study and collecting, lapidary arts, and related creative projects, and it is open to rockhounds of all ages. GTARMC maintains a workroom in the basement of the Carnegie building with rock saws for cutting and polishing, offers a cabochon class that leads to workroom access, and runs a youth-focused Pebble Pups program. The club holds its annual show each September at the Cherryland VFW Post in Traverse City.
