About Central Michigan Lapidary and Mineral Society

Central Michigan Lapidary and Mineral Society (CMLMS) is a nonprofit established in May 1957 to promote interest in and increased knowledge of mineralogy, paleontology, geology, and the lapidary arts. Based in the Lansing/Okemos area, the club is affiliated with the Midwest Federation of Mineralogical and Geological Societies, the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies, and the American Lands Access Association. CMLMS welcomes anyone interested in rocks, geology, and rockhounding to its meetings, hosts an annual show and silent auction, offers field trips through a dedicated field-trip chair, supports an MSU scholarship, and does school science-fair outreach. The club also maintains a members' library and educational resources on Michigan's state stone, gem, fossil, and soil.
