About Southeast Kentucky Gem, Mineral and Fossil Club

The Southeast Kentucky Gem, Mineral and Fossil Club, founded in 2015 and an EFMLS member since 2016, is a nonprofit club based in Irvine, Kentucky that encourages the legal hunting, collecting, and sharing of Kentucky agates, fossils, and minerals, along with the jewelry and crafts made from them. The club meets monthly at Steam Engine Pizza Pub in downtown Irvine. Each year, in the week leading up to Irvine's Mountain Mushroom Festival, club members lead guided hunts of thirty to forty participants to sites along forks of Station Camp Creek where the landowner permits collecting. The club also presents the annual Rock & Gem Show held alongside the Mountain Mushroom Festival.
