About KYANA Geological Society
KYANA Geological Society is a non-profit educational organization, founded in 1961, that promotes the study of geology, minerals, fossils, and lapidary arts across Kentucky and southern Indiana. Monthly meetings run from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the Louisville Nature Center and include a social/swap-meet period, a 'gem of the month' segment, and a regular program. The society maintains an active Facebook group and offers substantial educational content on its website, including detailed coverage of Kentucky's fossil record from the Ordovician through Pennsylvanian periods. KYANA is one of Kentucky's longest-running rockhounding and earth-science clubs, serving both the Louisville, KY and southern Indiana rockhounding communities.
