About Geological Society of Kentucky

The Geological Society of Kentucky is a professional and hobbyist organization whose purpose is to advance the profession, practice, and science of geology within the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The society holds monthly meetings, frequently at the Kentucky Geological Survey's Mining and Mineral Resources Building on the University of Kentucky campus in Lexington, and organizes an annual field-trip-based meeting -- the 2026 annual meeting includes a field trip to West Portsmouth, Ohio, held October 23-24. The group functions as a bridge between academic geologists, industry professionals, and Kentucky earth-science enthusiasts.
