About Mineralogical Society of the District of Columbia
Founded in 1942 and historically meeting at the Smithsonian Institution, the Mineralogical Society of the District of Columbia exists to learn together and further knowledge about mineralogy and earth sciences, and to share the pleasure of collecting minerals. Since transitioning to virtual meetings, it has kept a YouTube channel of programs going back to 2021. The club organizes field trips jointly with other local clubs and explicitly welcomes newcomers.
