About Tar Heel Gem and Mineral Club
The Tar Heel Gem and Mineral Club was formed in 1974 as a nonprofit educational organization serving people interested in the lapidary arts, earth sciences, and related subjects in the Raleigh, NC area. The club runs a regular field trip program (recent destinations include Johnston, New Hanover, and Halifax counties) and hosts an annual gem, mineral and jewelry show at the NC State Fairgrounds featuring over 30 vendors and club demonstrations of faceting, cabbing, chainmaking, wire-wrapping, bead stringing and gem-tree creation.
