About Deming Gem & Mineral Society
An incorporated nonprofit dedicated to the knowledge, advancement, and enjoyment of the earth sciences, established in 1965 with 41 charter members and now over 200 members, in Deming, New Mexico. Annual dues are $25 per family/household or $15 individual, due January 1st. Meets monthly except June-August, with a separate board meeting. Operates a lapidary shop ($1/hour) and silversmithing shop, a lending library, wire-wrapping and beading classes, and offers guided field trips. Publishes a monthly newsletter, CHIPS. Hosts the annual RockHound RoundUp show, second weekend of March, at the Southwest New Mexico Fairgrounds, drawing 120+ vendors and roughly 10,000 visitors.
