About Loup Valley Gem & Mineral Society
Loup Valley Gem and Mineral Society was founded on March 23, 1972 by a group of rockhounds from Central Community College and is based in Schuyler, Nebraska. The club began with a focus on gemstones and jewelry-making before expanding into Native American artifacts, fossils, and other collecting interests. It has held educational events for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and 4-H groups over the decades and draws members from a wide geographic area. The society's annual gem, jewelry, and artifact show reached its 44th year, and the club celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2022.
