About Black Hawk Gem & Mineral Society
A non-profit organization based in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area dedicated to studying the sciences of mineralogy, geology and paleontology and the arts of lapidary and gemology. In place since the mid-1950s, the society hosts monthly meetings with guest speakers, field trips, and demonstrations, and welcomes new members from Black Hawk County and beyond. Each April it puts on a free Rock, Mineral & Fossil Show at the Waterloo Center for the Arts featuring rocks, minerals, fossils, and gemstones for people of all ages, plus vendors, family activities, and a silent auction.
