About Des Moines Lapidary Society
Des Moines Lapidary Society (DMLS) was formed in 1955 to promote, enjoy, and develop the study and practice of the lapidary arts. It is one of the few lapidary clubs in the United States to own the building where it holds meetings, which houses a full lapidary workshop with trim saws, rock saws, grinders, and cab machines, plus a small metals shop. Members who are trained to use the equipment safely may use the workshop, and the club offers classes in wire-wrapping, silversmithing, opal work, and other advanced lapidary techniques.
