About South Suburban Earth Science Club
South Suburban Earth Science Club (SSESC) is dedicated to promoting education in the earth sciences, including minerals, archaeology, lapidary arts and processes, and fossil collecting, identification, and display. The club serves the Park Forest/Peotone area south of Chicago. Meetings welcome everyone, including children age 6 and up accompanied by an adult. SSESC organizes an annual show featuring exhibits of fossils from Mazon Creek and Thornton Quarry, minerals, jewelry, lapidary work, crystals, artifacts, and Illinois meteorites.
