About North Idaho Mineral Club

North Idaho Mineral Club, founded August 24, 1949 as the North Idaho Rockhound Club and renamed in 1953, promotes interest and education in geology, mineralogy, paleontology, lapidary arts, and related sciences in the Coeur d'Alene/Hayden area. The club welcomes members of all experience levels, from newcomers to professional geologists. Meetings run the 3rd Thursday, 6-8 PM, April through November, and shift to 3rd Saturday, 12-2 PM, December through March. Members-only field trips run several times a year to surrounding states. The club hosts an annual Gem and Mineral Show at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds' Jacklin Building in Coeur d'Alene — the 65th edition runs May 30-31, 2026.
