About Augusta GA Chapter
Augusta GA Chapter, branded as the Augusta Gold Club, is the Augusta, Georgia chapter of the Gold Prospectors Association of America (GPAA), established in 2001 to unite prospectors throughout the Central Savannah River Area, covering territory from Evans to Aiken to Thomson to McCormick. The chapter welcomes members of any experience level interested in gold prospecting, rock hounding, or metal detecting. It meets monthly at a business in Martinez, Georgia, with its April meeting shifted a week later to avoid conflicting with the Masters Tournament. The chapter leases a gold claim in McCormick, South Carolina for member prospecting and runs several outings a year to sites around Thomson, Lincolnton, and McCormick. No local club dues are required, though members are expected to eventually join the national GPAA; claim access carries a separate monthly fee.
