About Athens Rock and Gem Club
Athens Rock and Gem Club is a nonprofit organization based in Athens, Georgia that promotes the recreational, educational, and scientific aspects of lapidary arts, rock and mineral collecting, and earth sciences for adults and children. The club meets monthly at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, holding a short business meeting followed by an educational program on rocks, minerals, or lapidary topics. Annual dues are tiered for individuals and families, keeping membership accessible. The club is affiliated with the Southeast Federation of Mineralogical Societies. Members organize and support the annual Athens Rock, Gem, Mineral, Fossil & Jewelry Show (also called the Classic City Gem & Mineral Show) at the Classic Center, drawing dozens of dealers from around the country to display mineral specimens, gemstones, meteorites, jewelry, and fossils. The club welcomes both experienced collectors and newcomers interested in earth sciences.
