About Gem and Mineral Society of Greater Stamford
Founded in 1954 as the Stamford Mineralogical Society, this non-profit educational corporation is currently in the process of rebranding as the Gem and Mineral Society of Greater Stamford to reflect an expanded focus on precious stones and minerals alongside earth sciences, mineralogy, geology, paleontology, and the lapidary arts. The club meets the second (or third) Tuesday of the month at approximately 7:00-7:30 PM at the Greenwich Public Library, 101 West Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, CT, with a Zoom option available. Meetings, which typically feature guest speakers, are open to the public. The society runs periodic field-collecting trips and sponsors a yearly show drawing mineral dealers from across the northeastern U.S. Mailing address: P.O. Box 4148, Stamford, CT 06907.
