About Sioux Empire Gem & Mineral Society

Sioux Empire Gem & Mineral Society (SEGAMS), founded in 1964, is a nonprofit, family-friendly earth-science club based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The club is a member of both the Midwest Federation of Mineralogical and Geological Societies (MWF) and the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS). It meets the second Friday of each month and conducts club outings, including geode and gravel-pit hunts, along with fossil identification activities. SEGAMS hosts an annual Rock, Gem, Fossil & Jewelry Show, historically held at the Bethany Reformed Church Carpenters Addition in Canton, South Dakota, though its 2026 dates were still listed as TBD at time of research.
