About Northern Hills
Northern Hills Prospectors is a Gold Prospectors Association of America (GPAA) chapter based in Lead, South Dakota, focused on recreational gold prospecting and mineral exploration in the Black Hills region. The chapter holds panning demonstrations and sluicing events at local community celebrations, including Wild Bill Days in nearby Deadwood, and has organized rock-hunt outings such as a trip to Indian Creek near Scenic, SD. The chapter has held a lease agreement with GPAA for prospecting rights on an 80-acre claim (the Eagle Eye claim), giving members exclusive access for club outings. Northern Hills Prospectors also participates in local events like Custer Gold Days.
