About Independence Gem & Mineral Society
Independence Gem & Mineral Society was organized in February 1948 to generate interest in geology and has belonged to the Midwest Federation of Mineralogical & Geological Societies since that year. The club is based in Independence, Missouri, and holds monthly meetings at Center Place Restoration School. Programming is kid-friendly and includes field trips, an annual rock show, and educational outreach in the community. The society's Facebook page has more than 800 followers.
