About Gem & Mineral Society of Louisiana, Inc
The Gem & Mineral Society of Louisiana is dedicated to educating its New Orleans-area community about earth science through all facets of the lapidary arts. The club meets the second Monday of each month (except July) at 7:30 PM in Room 1000 of the UNO Geology/Psychology Building, 6644 Founders Rd, New Orleans, LA 70148 -- meetings are free and open to the public, no membership required. The club runs a "Pebble Pups" youth program, offers Cabochon and Lost Wax lapidary workshops, and organizes field trips to Louisiana gravel bars, Arkansas crystal mines, and Georgia rose-quartz mines. The club has an independent website (gmsofla.org) beyond the Facebook page recorded in the DB.
