About Ark-La-Tex Gem & Mineral Society
Founded in 1971 and based in the Shreveport-Bossier City area, the Ark-La-Tex Gem & Mineral Society promotes interest and education in gems, minerals, fossils, and earth sciences, including field trips, lectures, and workshops, plus educational outreach to schools, libraries, and youth-development clubs. The club meets the first Tuesday of each month with social time at 5:30 PM and the meeting starting at 6:00 PM (venue confirmed via Facebook). Annual dues are $15 individual / $20 couple / $25 family. The society puts on an annual Gem, Mineral, Fossil, Bead & Jewelry trade show each August at the Bossier City Civic Center.
