Central Iowa Mineral Society is a 501(c)(3) charitable, educational, and scientific organization based in the Des Moines area, registered since 1954 with perpetual nonprofit status. Members meet monthly to hear presentations on earth-science topics from members or guests, and the group runs rock swaps, auctions, rock hunting trips, and picnics throughout the year. It is a member club of the Midwest Federation of Mineralogical and Geological Societies.
