About Whidbey Island Gem Club
Established 1938 (per a Whidbey News-Times feature). Over 100 members. Anyone age 14 and up is eligible to join; runs a Junior Rockhounds program for younger kids. Offers demonstrations and classes in silversmithing, cabbing, intarsia, stone bead making, wire wrapping, knapping, and primitive tool-making. Operates a rock cutting/polishing shop near the Oak Harbor Senior Center, open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9 AM-noon, plus a free weekly Thursday-evening wire-wrap class.
