The Mineralogical Society of the District of Columbia (MSDC) is a Washington, D.C. club founded in 1942, dedicated to learning about mineralogy and earth sciences and sharing the pleasure of collecting minerals. Its membership includes rockhounds, professional scientists, collectors, and newcomers alike. Historically the club met at the Smithsonian Institution; meetings are now held via Zoom on first Wednesdays with hopes of a future hybrid format. MSDC joins with other local clubs for field trips, maintains a YouTube channel of past programs since 2021, funds a scholarship supporting a student of mineralogy/geology, and makes annual donations to the Smithsonian Mineral Sciences Department.
