Where to hunt Lake Superior Agates

If you're looking for a solid summer weekend trip, you've got to hit the beaches up along Lake Superior near Superior and Port Wing. Summer is peak season there because the winter ice is long gone, and walking the shoreline in the warm weather is amazing—especially right after a big summer thunderstorm kicks up the fresh gravel on the beach. If you want to stay further south and beat the heat a bit, try wading out onto the gravel bars along the Mississippi River down near Chippewa Falls or Eau Claire. The water levels are usually lower and perfect for wading in July and August, making it super easy to spot that classic waxy, orange shine of a Lake Superior agate sitting right in the shallow water!
Thank you very much. I will give it a try.
