Finding Texas Blue Topaz in Mason County

Does anyone have an update on public access for finding Texas Blue Topaz in Mason County? I know places like the Seaquist and Lindsay ranches historically allowed digs, but I've heard conflicting reports about closures or private-only access recently—can anyone confirm a spot that's currently open?

Unfortunately, those conflicting reports are true. The classic, old-school ranch digs in Mason County have officially changed. The Bar M Ranch closed to digging a few years back, and more recently, the legendary Lindsay Ranch and Seaquist Ranch permanently closed their regular daily public access as the owners retired from hosting rockhounds. However, you can still hunt for Texas Blue Topaz if you time it right! The community has shifted toward scheduled, organized group events. The Mason County Chamber of Commerce hosts specific public "Rock Hunt" field trips where they secure group access to local properties, and local mineral groups occasionally host guided caravans out to promising private prospects like Emerald Ridge. You could check out the Texas Interactive Map/club database on this platform. I noticed they keep it updated with current public-access statuses, active contact numbers for local clubs, and the exact meeting locations for these upcoming scheduled group digs.
