About Baton Rouge Gem & Mineral Society
Founded in 1964, the Baton Rouge Gem & Mineral Society is a non-profit dedicated to promoting interest in rocks, minerals, fossils, and gemstones, fostering appreciation for earth sciences and the lapidary arts through discussions, field trips, and hands-on workshops. The club meets the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Bluebonnet Regional Library, 9200 Bluebonnet Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA. Dues are $15 for a single membership and $25 for a family membership. The club's annual show is traditionally held each August at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, LA (exact 2026 dates not yet published). Note: the club's own domain (brgemandmineral.org) currently returns an SSL certificate mismatch error in automated fetches, though it still resolves via search-engine cache.
